In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful.
1Ta. Seen. Meem.
2These are the Verses of the Clarifying Book.
3Perhaps you will destroy yourself with grief: because they do not become believers.
4If We will, We can send down upon them a sign from heaven, leaving their necks bent in submission to it.
5No fresh reminder comes to them from the Most Merciful, but they turn away from it.
6They have lied; but soon will come to them the news of what they ridiculed.
7Do they not see the earth, and how many beautiful pairs We produced in it?
8Surely in this is a sign, but most of them are not believers.
9Most surely, your Lord is the Almighty, the Merciful.
10When your Lord called out to Moses, “Go to the tyrannical people.
11The people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear?”
12He said, “My Lord, I fear they will reject me.
13And I become stressed, and my tongue is not fluent, so send Aaron too.
14And they have a charge against me, so I fear they may kill me.”
15He said, “No. Go, both of you, with Our proofs. We are with you, listening.
16Go to Pharaoh, and say, ‘We are messengers from the Lord of all Worlds.
17Let the Children of Israel go with us.'”
18He said, “Did we not raise you among us as a child, and you stayed among us for many of your years?
19And you committed that deed of yours, and you were ungrateful.”
20He said, “I did it then—when I was misguided.
21And I fled from you when I feared you; but my Lord gave me wisdom, and He made me one of the messengers.
22Is that the favor you taunt me with, although you have enslaved the Children of Israel?”
23Pharaoh said, “And what is the Lord of the Worlds?”
24He said, “The Lord of the heavens and the earth, and everything between them—if you only knew.”
25He said to those around him, “Do you not hear?”
26He said, “Your Lord, and the Lord of your ancestors of old.”
27He said, “This messenger of yours, who is sent to you, is crazy.”
28He said, “Lord of the East and the West, and everything between them—if you understand.”
29He said, “If you take any other god besides me, I will have you imprisoned.”
30He said, “What if I bring you something convincing?”
31He said, “Bring it—if what you say is true.”
32So he threw his cane; and it was a serpent, plain to see.
33And he pulled his hand; and it was white, for all to see.
34He said to the dignitaries around him, “This is a skilled magician.
35He wants to expel you from your land with his magic, so what do you recommend?”
36They said, “Leave him and his brother for a while. And send recruiters to the cities.
37To bring to you every experienced magician.”
38So the magicians assembled at the set time on the appointed day.
39And it was said to the people, “Would you come together?
40So that we may follow the magicians: if they are the victors.”
41When the magicians arrived, they said to Pharaoh, “Is there a reward for us, if we are the winners?”
42He said, “Yes, and you will be among those closest to me.”
43Moses said to them, “Present whatever you wish to present.”
44So they threw their ropes and their sticks, and said, “By the majesty of Pharaoh, we will be the victors.”
45Then Moses threw his cane, and it began swallowing their trickery.
46And the magicians fell down, in prostration.
47They said, “We have believed in the Lord of the Worlds.
48The Lord of Moses and Aaron.”
49He said, “Did you believe in Him before I have given you permission? He must be your superior who taught you magic, but soon you will know. I will cut off your hands and feet on opposite sides, and I crucify you all.”
50They said, “No problem. To our Lord, we will return.
51We are eager for our Lord to forgive us our sins—since we are the first of the believers.”
52And We inspired Moses: “Travel with My servants at night, and you will be pursued.”
53Then Pharaoh sent marshals to the cities.
54“These are a small gang.
55But they are offending us.
56And we are a vigilant multitude.”
57So We expelled them from gardens and springs.
58And treasures, and splendid residences.
59So it was. And We awarded it to the Children of Israel.
60And they followed them at sunrise.
61When the two groups sighted one another, the companions of Moses said, “We are overtaken!”
62He said, “No! My Lord is with me; He will guide me.”
63And We inspired Moses: “Strike the sea with your cane.” And it parted. And each part was like a huge hill.
64And We drew the others near.
65And We saved Moses and those with him, all together.
66Then We drowned the others.
67Surely in this is a sign, but most of them are not believers.
68Your Lord is the Almighty, the Merciful.
69And relate to them the story of Abraham.
70When he said to his father and his people, “What are you worshiping?”
71They said, “We worship idols, and we remain devoted to them.”
72He said, “Do they hear you when you pray?
73Or do they benefit you, or harm you?”
74They said, “But we found our ancestors doing so.”
75He said, “Have you considered what you worship.
76You and your ancient ancestors?
77They are enemies to me, except the Lord of the Worlds.
78He who created me, and guides me.
79He who feeds me, and gives me drink.
80And when I get sick, He heals me.
81He who makes me die, and then revives me.
82And Who I hope will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgment.”
83“My Lord! Grant me wisdom, and join me with the righteous.
84And give me a reputation of truth among the others.
85And make me of those awarded the Garden of Bliss.
86And forgive my father—he was one of the misguided.
87And do not disgrace me on the Day they are resurrected.
88The Day when neither wealth nor children can help.
89Except for him who comes to Allah with a sound heart.”
90And the Garden will be brought near for the righteous.
91And the Blaze will be displayed to the deviators.
92And it will be said to them, “Where are those you used to worship?”
93Besides Allah? Can they help you, or help themselves?”
94So they will be toppled into it, together with the seducers.
95And the soldiers of Iblis, all of them.
96They will say, as they feud in it.
97“By Allah, We were in obvious error.
98For equating you with the Lord of the Worlds.
99And none misled us except the wicked.
100Now we have no intercessors.
101And no true friend.
102If only we could have another chance, we would be of the believers.”
103Surely in this is a sign, but most of them are not believers.
104And your Lord is certainly the Almighty, the Merciful.
105The people of Noah denied the messengers.
106When their brother Noah said to them, “Will you not be cautious?
107I am to you a trustworthy messenger.
108So fear Allah, and obey me.
109I ask of you no payment for this. My payment is only from the Lord of the Worlds.
110So reverence Allah, and obey me.”
111They said, “Shall we believe in you? When the lowliest follow you.”
112He said, “What do I know about what they used to do?
113Their reckoning is only with my Lord—if you have any sense.
114And I am not about to drive away the believers.
115I am only a clear warner.”
116They said, “If you do not refrain, O Noah, you will be among the stoned.”
117He said, “My Lord, my people have rejected me.
118So judge between me and them decisively. And save me, and the believers who are with me.
119So We saved him and those with him in the fully loaded Ark.
120Then afterward We drowned the rest.
121Surely in this is a sign, but most of them are not believers.
122Your Lord is the Almighty, the Merciful.
123Aad disbelieved the messengers.
124When their brother Hud said to them, “Do you not fear?
125I am to you an honest messenger.
126So reverence Allah, and obey me.
127I ask of you no payment for this. My payment is only from the Lord of the Worlds.
128Do you build a monument on every height for vanity's sake?
129And you construct fortresses, hoping to live forever?
130And when you strike, you strike mercilessly?
131So reverence Allah, and obey me.
132And reverence Him who supplied you with everything you know.
133He supplied you with livestock and children.
134And gardens and springs.
135I fear for you the punishment of a terrible Day.”
136They said, “It is the same for us, whether you lecture us, or do not lecture.
137This is nothing but the morals of the ancients.
138And we are not to be punished.”
139So they denied him, so We destroyed them. There is a sign in this, but most of them are not believers.
140Your Lord is the Almighty, the Merciful.
141Thamood denied the messengers.
142When their brother Saleh said to them, “Do you not fear?
143I am a sincere messenger to you.
144So fear Allah, and obey me.
145I ask of you no payment for this. My reward is only from the Lord of the Universe.
146Will you be left secure in what is here?
147In gardens and springs?
148And plantations, and palm-trees with tender fruits?
149And you skillfully carve dwellings in the mountains?
150So reverence Allah, and obey me.
151And do not obey the command of the extravagant.
152Those who work corruption on earth, and do not reform.”
153They said, “You are surely bewitched.
154You are nothing but a human like us. So bring a sign, if you are truthful.
155He said, “This is a camel. She has her turn of drinking, and you have your turn of drinking—on a known day.
156And do not touch her with harm, lest you be seized by the punishment of a tremendous day.”
157But they hamstrung her, and they became full of remorse.
158So the punishment seized them. Surely in this is a sign, but most of them are not believers.
159Your Lord is the Almighty, the Merciful.
160The people of Lot rejected the messengers.
161When their brother Lot said to them, “Do you not fear?
162I am to you an honest messenger.
163So fear Allah, and obey me.
164I ask of you no reward for it. My reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds.
165Do you approach the males of the world?
166And forsake the wives your Lord created for you? Indeed, you are intrusive people.”
167They said, “Unless you refrain, O Lot, you will be expelled.”
168He said, “I deplore what you do.”
169“My Lord! Save me and my family from what they do.”
170So We saved him and his family, all together.
171Except for an old woman among those who lagged behind.
172Then We destroyed the others.
173And We rained down on them a rain. Dreadful is the rain of those forewarned.
174Surely in this is a sign, but most of them are not believers.
175Your Lord is the Almighty, the Merciful.
176The inhabitants of the Woods denied the messengers.
177When Shuaib said to them, “Do you not fear?
178I am to you a trustworthy messenger.
179So be cautious of Allah, and obey me.
180I ask of you no payment for this. My payment is only from the Lord of the Universe.
181Give full measure. And do not cheat.
182And weigh with accurate scales.
183And do not defraud people of their belongings. And do not spread corruption in the land.
184And reverence Him who created you and the masses of old.”
185They said, “You are one of the bewitched.
186And you are nothing but a human like us, and we think you are a liar.
187So bring down on us pieces from the sky, if you are truthful.”
188He said, “My Lord is Well Aware of what you do.”
189So they denied him. So the punishment of the day of gloom gripped them. It was the punishment of a tremendous day.
190Surely in this is a sign, but most of them are not believers.
191Your Lord is the Almighty, the Merciful.
192It is a revelation from the Lord of the Worlds.
193The Honest Spirit came down with it.
194Upon your heart, so that you may be of the Warners.
195In a clear Arabic language.
196And it is in the scriptures of the ancients.
197Is it not a sign for them that it was recognized by the scholars of the Children of Israel?
198Had We revealed it to one of the foreigners.
199And he recited it to them, they still would not have believed in it.
200Thus We pass it through the hearts of the guilty.
201They will not believe in it—until they see the painful punishment.
202It will come upon them suddenly—when they are unaware.
203Then they will say, “Can we be given more time?”
204Do they seek to expedite Our punishment?
205Have you considered: if We allowed them enjoyment for years.
206And there came to them what they were promised.
207Of what avail to them will be their past enjoyments?
208Never did We destroy a town, but it had warners.
209As a reminder—We are never unjust.
210It was not the devils that revealed it.
211It is not in their interest, nor in their power.
212They are barred from hearing.
213So do not pray to another god with Allah, lest you be among the tormented.
214And warn your near relatives.
215And lower your wing to the believers who follow you.
216And if they disobey you, say, “I am innocent of what you do.”
217And put your trust in the Almighty, the Merciful.
218He Who sees you when you rise.
219And your devotions amidst the worshipers.
220He is the Hearer, the Aware.
221Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend?
222They descend upon every sinful liar.
223They give ear, and most of them are liars.
224As for the poets—the deviators follow them.
225Do you not see how they ramble in every style?
226And how they say what they do not do?
227Except for those who believe, and do righteous deeds, and remember Allah often, and defend themselves after they were wronged. As for those who do wrong, they will know to what homecoming they will return.
