The Snatchers

In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful.
1By those snatching violently.
2And those removing gently.
3And those gliding smoothly.
4And those racing swiftly.
5And those regulating events.
6On the Day when the Quake quakes.
7And is followed by the Successor.
8Hearts on that Day will be pounding.
9Their sights downcast.
10They say, “Are we to be restored to the original condition?
11When we have become hollow bones?”
12They say, “This is a losing proposition.”
13But it will be only a single nudge.
14And they will be awake.
15Has the story of Moses reached you?
16When His Lord called out to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa.
17“Go to Pharaoh—he has transgressed.”
18And say, “Do you care to be purified?
19And I will guide you to your Lord, and you will turn reverent.”
20Then he showed him the Great Miracle.
21But he denied and disobeyed.
22Then he turned his back, and tried.
23And gathered and proclaimed.
24He said, “I am your Lord, the most high.”
25So Allah seized him with exemplary punishment, in the last and in the first.
26In this is a lesson for whoever fears.
27Are you more difficult to create, or the sky? He constructed it.
28He raised its masses, and He proportioned it.
29And He dimmed its night, and He brought out its daylight.
30And after that, He spread out the earth.
31And from it, He brought out its water and its pasture.
32And the mountains, He anchored.
33A source of enjoyment for you and your livestock.
34But when the Great Cataclysm befalls.
35A Day when the human being will remember what he has endeavored.
36And the Furnace will be displayed for whoever sees.
37As for him who has transgressed.
38And preferred the life of this world.
39Then the Furnace is the shelter.
40But as for him who feared the Standing of his Lord, and restrained the self from desires.
41Then Paradise is the shelter.
42They ask you about the Hour, “When will it take place?”
43You have no knowledge of it.
44To your Lord is its finality.
45You are only to warn whoever dreads it.
46On the Day when they see it—it will be as if they had stayed only an evening or its morning.
